ArtSmarts is an after school and summer program that provides students grades 3rd-5th (ages 9-12) the opportunity for exploration and immersion in music and art. As the program develops, theater and dance will also be offered. ArtSmarts strives to improve the overall quality of life of all students and assure students have the necessary skills to be successful in the new millenium. Arts learning improves academic performance, particularly in reading, language and math, and raises scores on standardized tests.
Applications can be picked up at the Goldsboro Parks & Recreation Department, Wayne County Library, Arts Council of Wayne County, and the City of Goldsboro City Hall. Applications may also be downloaded at www.goldsboroparksandrec.com. Students interested in attending must provide the names of two teachers from their schools as references and to provide information regarding their academic performance.
